F&I Online presentation with Connie Colfox, Specialist Horse Trainer
F&I Online presentation at 7pm on 25 November 2024 with Connie Colfox, Specialist Horse Trainer
Connie Colfox hails from a notable equestrian heritage and has been developing her own unique system for starting, training and re-training horses in her native Dorset for decades.
In this age of Social Licence to Operate and the threat to our beloved sport and lifestyle, it’s refreshing to find a humble and understated true horse person, who has a deep understanding of the animals she works with and an untiring passion and patience for training horses in a way that ensures that they always have a choice to participate. Where there is absolutely no force or negative pressure and the horses’ natural responses are understood from the deepest level.
The way that Connie ensures that force simply cannot be used is that she uses no tack in the initial stages.
Don’t try this at home! But don’t judge, either. Too often, the traditional equestrian community has been inclined to dismiss these kinds of approach as left field, odd and even eccentric. At last, we find ourselves in a time when we simply have to embrace ethical training and learn how to train with kindness, putting the horse’s wellbeing at the centre of all that we do.
The F&I Association has been leading the conversation on the equestrian world’s response to SLO for some years now. We continue to explore ways to promote ethical practices and to safeguard our sport and the horses that we work alongside.
I urge you to join this enlightening evening, where Connie will explain her methods and philosophy, to help us to broaden our approach to training with empathy.
There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
