Chairman’s Report for the Year
Please see the attached report from Jillie Rogers, BHSI.
Treasurer’s Report for the Year
See financial statement from Judith Murphy (available after the meeting on website). Balance at the end of 2014 was £10,229.10, the income received for 2015 was £17,111.00 and outgoings were £13,584.12. Therefore, the balance at the end of 2015 was £13,755.98 making a profit for 2015 of £3,526.88.
Meet the present Committee/Election of Committee for 2016
Judith Murphy was re-elected for her final term of 3 years.
Both Ann Bostock and Jillie Rogers (Chairman) were re-elected for a further term of three years
Jeremy Michaels was voted onto the Committee.
David Sheerin and Sam York were co-opted onto the committee during 2015 and were duly voted in by those present.
Simon Somers, seconded by Islay Auty proposed the Committee stays as it is.
Jeremy Michaels then informed members of the trainers for the next annual course were Christoph Hess and Christopher Bartle. Riding places were likely to be at a premium and places would be opened up on 1st September for one horse and rider combinations. From the 1st October places will be opened up to accommodate multiple horse and rider combinations. However, there needs to be money in the pot to subsidise courses and support them.
Alison Craig and Jillie Rogers have been updating and modernising the Constitution, copies had earlier been given to Sue Payne, Islay Auty and Jenny Ward for their approval and there were a couple of amendments to be made for finalisation. However, members felt that the Committee could be trusted to amend and then circulate copies of the Constitution. This was proposed by Simon Somers and seconded by Biddy Brasted-Watts. A copy of the updated and modernised Constitution is attached.
Jo Winfield requires “copies” for articles to include in the British Horse Magazine. The aim is to educate the general public on what the F&I association does and what it is.
A brief review of 2015 events
Starting in January with the “Pammy day” we were on a roll and last year was very full with course walks, training days, visits to Carl Judy & Emile “Stable Management” at Moulton College the two Ladies Days at RDS and Hickstead and the “veterinary” day organised by Biddy at Newmarket where Dr. Rachel Murray who had given a talk to the Association in 1995 again wowed members with so much information. Whilst Simon Somers worked his judging magic in the afternoon to help with a better understanding of conformation. Many more days were organised by enthusiastic members, and attended by the same with their pupils/friends. The tickets made available to members by Simon for attendance at the Horse of the Year Show give an idea of how diverse our Association is. When people contact me and say their day is not filling I tend to say “hold fast” and carry on as whilst only a few days can run at a loss others are often well subscribed and the books will balance, however, as you are all aware this Annual Course is subsidised by the Association. Thank you to all the report writers who make each day come ‘alive’ for those unable to attend.
Presentation of Awards
The Achievement Award, Ann Bostock informed the members about this new award, she gave an outline as to how the award came into being and why it was being presented. Kylie Roddy the recipient was overwhelmed. The award in the form of a perpetual circular shield was presented to Kylie by Ann along with four crystal glasses.
The Pat Smallwood Award
The wonderful Pat Smallwood trophy “Wistful” uniquely sculpted by Jo Knowles FBHS was awarded this year to Sue Payne FBHS in recognition of her continued hard work on behalf of the Association since its inception in 1986. Jillie Rogers gave a brief history of the Award prior to presenting it to Sue.
